JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic financial leader responsible for positioning NABA for long-term financial strength, operational excellence, and mission alignment. Serving as a key partner to the CEO, COO, and Chief Revenue Officer, the CFO ensures that NABA has the financial systems, data integrity, and forecasting capabilities required to execute the organization’s strategic priorities.

 The CFO oversees financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, audit, compliance, internal controls, and technology systems supporting finance. This leader will elevate NABA’s financial rigor, strengthen policies and processes, and build transparency through precise, timely reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Financial Strategy & Leadership:

  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner translating strategy into financial pathways
  • Build and execute forward-looking financial strategies
  • Provide clear and actionable financial insights to leadership and the Board
  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing Finance
  • Lead with calm under pressure
  • Establish a culture of accuracy and accountability

 Financial Operations, Controls & Accounting

  • Oversee core accounting functions and ensure a timely, accurate month-end close
  • Strengthen financial controls, policies, and compliance
  • Oversee treasury management and Payment Card Industry compliance
  • Manage outsourced accountants as required

 Budgeting, Forecasting & Board Reporting:

  • Lead transition to 18-month rolling forecasts and scenario planning
  • Ensure budgets support strategy execution
  • Oversee the development of forecasting models providing real-time insight
  • Establish a crisp Board Finance/Audit reporting cadence including meeting prep and leadership
  • Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics to leadership, ensuring that financial performance aligns with strategic objectives. Provide regular updates and actionable insights to support informed decision-making

 Audit, Compliance, Risk & Restricted Funds:

  • Ensure the timely completion of the annual audit and provide all necessary information to support the audit process
  • Ensure the prompt and accurate submission of tax and information returns
  • Ensure that all finance functions comply with legal and regulatory requirements in partnership with legal counsel

 Financial Systems, Technology & Data Integrity:

  • Serve as executive owner of financial systems
  • Ensure accurate financial data
  • Collaborate with IT and Revenue Operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of financial systems
  • Implement BI tools for real-time insights


REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Requirement(s):

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or CPA preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience. Nonprofit industry experience is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading a high performing accounting/ finance function
  • Proven ability leading teams through change
  • Commitment to NABA’s mission

  • A thorough knowledge of GAAP FASB, SFAS 
  • Strong financial systems experience in Net Suite, desired

Physical Requirements:

  • Office/Remote working environment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information as well as use a computer
  • Ability to transport up to 20 lbs. 
  • Local and/or national travel periodically required 

Location:

  • Hybrid setting between NABA office and home office
