Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)


Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services to patients, helping them achieve their rehabilitation goals and improve their quality of life.


Essential Functions:

- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by the Occupational Therapist.

- Conduct therapeutic activities to enhance patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being.

- Monitor and document patients' progress and report any changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs.

- Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans.


Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and transfer patients as needed, which may require lifting up to 50 pounds.

- Prolonged standing, walking, and bending during therapy sessions.

- Ability to perform physical activities such as stretching, reaching, and assisting patients with mobility.

- Capability to use various therapeutic equipment and tools safely and effectively.


Skills and Qualifications:

- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

- Basic knowledge of therapeutic techniques and rehabilitation practices.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to navigate electronic documentation 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist and in accordance with an established plan of care, provides prescribed occupational therapy treatment and services, instruction, and guidance to patients with functional limitations.

  • Communication with interdisciplinary team with focus on case managing patient's needs, not minutes!
