This includes administering and overseeing the financial operations of the College, including but not limited to accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, treasury operations, cash management, debt management, capital accounting, fixed assets and Payroll. &nbsp;</span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;">This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer for Metropolitan Community College of Greater Kansas City.&nbsp;<br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;">The Associate Vice Chancellor of Financial Services provides strategic &nbsp;leadership for &nbsp;the financial and accounting activities of Metropolitan Community College. This role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, treasury operations, cash management, debt management, capital accounting, and fixed assets.&nbsp;</span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;">The Associate Vice Chancellor of Financial Services will lead with a focus on innovation, compliance, sustainability, and diversity to enhance financial stewardship and promote equitable outcomes. Reporting directly to the Chief &nbsp;Financial Officer (CFO), this role is instrumental in driving strategic financial planning, risk management, and continuous improvement across the College.</span>
<ul style="padding-left: 40px; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0"><li>Lead and contribute to the development of the College's financial strategies and long-term financial plan in alignment with the Strategic Plan </li><li>Innovate financial practices to ensure adaptability to changing economic landscapes </li><li>Drive sustainability-focused financial decisions that align with the College’s mission and goals </li><li>Direct the operations of assigned accounting/finance functions, including investments, fixed assets, travel, year-end closing, issuance of financial compliance reports, external audits, Payroll and tax compliance </li><li>Strengthen financial and accounting internal controls to protect resources and enhance operational efficiency </li><li>Oversee risk management processes, ensuring the identification and mitigation of financial risks </li><li>Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines</li><li>Lead and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and accountability </li><li>Develop and implement succession planning and leadership development initiatives </li><li>Promote equity and inclusion in leadership practices and decision-making processes </li><li>Collaborate with departments such as Human Resources, Student Finance, Legal, and Institutional Advancement, as well as external partners and stakeholders, to achieve shared goals </li><li>Serve as a resource to the CFO, Executive Cabinet, and Board of Trustees, providing insights, reports, and recommendations on financial matters </li><li>Lead the adoption and integration of advanced financial systems and technologies, including ERP platforms and data analytics tools </li><li>Drive efficiency and transparency through the implementation of automated and innovative financial reporting solutions </li><li>Represent the College in financial matters with external partners, community organizations, and regulators, and internal committees, strengthening ties and promoting transparency </li><li>Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of financial operations </li><li>Prepare, review, and present financial statements and compliance reports for internal and external audiences </li><li>Ensure compliance with all state and federal tax regulations </li><li>Support the Associate Vice Chancellor of Grants and Vice President of Institutional Advancement in financial matters related to grants and the Foundation </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul>
<span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><u>Minimum Qualifications:</u></span><ul style="padding-left: 40px; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><li>Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum of 7 years of progressive and verifiable experience in the field of accounting with knowledge and/or experience in fund accounting</li></ul><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><u>Preferred Qualifications:</u></span><u><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><br></strong></u><ul style="padding-left: 40px; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0;"><li>Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.&nbsp;</li><li>C.P.A. certification&nbsp;</li><li>Familiarity with Missouri Board of Education regulations, state funding processes, and applicable legal frameworks</li><li>5 yrs. of experience in a state-funded organization, preferably higher education&nbsp;</li><li>Experience with the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning and other integrated financial/payroll systems</li></ul><br><div tabindex="0" style="color: inherit; margin-bottom: 0px; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" id="isPasted"><u>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</u></div><ul style=" padding-left: 40px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px;"><li>Knowledge of Missouri Board of Education regulations and state-approved accounting procedures&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices related to the position&nbsp;</li><li>Skilled in the use of computers&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills&nbsp;</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with public and college employees&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to travel occasionally&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations</li></ul><br><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" id="isPasted"><u>Physical Requirements</u></span><u><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"></u><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance Positions in this class typically require climbing crouching, grasping, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking visual acuity, and walking.
