The Lansdowne YMCA is hiring a part-time Youth & Family Leader.  We believe that children learn best through play and socialization with others.  If you're ready to make a positive impact on our youth, join our team!  Must be available nights and weekends.


POSITION SUMMARY

Plan, direct and implement safe, quality Youth & Family classes as scheduled. Must have thorough knowledge of course content, curriculum and enjoy working with children. This position will be expected to follow the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every duty associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Birthday Parties & Family Events

Lead and facilitate YMCA birthday parties, ensuring a fun, organized, and welcoming experience for familiesSet up and break down party spacesEngage children in games, crafts, and age-appropriate activities

Youth Classes & Activities

    Plan and teach youth classes such as arts & crafts, sports, STEM, movement, or specialty interest programsSupport the coordination and delivery of Youth & Family eventsMaintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

 

Specialty Camps

    Assist in planning and running specialty camp programs during school breaks and summerSupervise groups of children and lead themed activitiesEnsure all YMCA safety and supervision standards are followed

 

Child Watch / Babysitting Room

    Oversee the Child Watch room and provide attentive, nurturing care to children ages 1 year–10 years oldCommunicate with parents and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming spaceFollow all YMCA policies regarding supervision, safety, and child development


 QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum 21 years of age.Experience working with children in a camp, school, childcare, or recreation settingStrong communication and customer service skillsAbility to lead activities, engage groups, and manage behavior positivelyReliable, responsible, and able to work independentlyCertifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.Completion of required trainings.Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.



Salary Information

$14.5 - $16.5 Annual Salary
