About this position

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and/or Lead Technologist the Ultrasound Technologist will perform all ultrasound duties and other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and promote health care. The Ultrasound Technologist will operate ultrasound equipment in a safe and competent manor to produce quality diagnostic images as directed by physicians according to established standards and protocols.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists physicians in invasive and non invasive procedures using proper sterile technique. 

 

  1. Obtains and reviews documentation before performing exam. ie Physician Prescription,  Consent Form, and Contrast Media Questionnaire. 

 

3.         QCs’ all exams in RISynergy as the exam is completed to insure accurate historical report            data.

 

4.         Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis to insure the highest quality of diagnostic images. 

 

5.         Responsible for the thorough knowledge of Ultrasound policies, procedures, equipment and supplies as well as the operation of PACS, RIS, HIS programs.

 

6.         Takes an active part in patient education by explaining the examination process to patients.

 

7.         Promotes positive patient relations in a caring environment by making patients comfortable and at ease during procedures.

 

8.         Transfers and positions patients using extreme care, patience and proper body mechanics.

 

9.         Identifies patients using the hospitals double identification policy.

 

10.       Responds to back-up calls as needed within 30 minutes.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members.
  2. Ability to apply medical terminology.
  3. Independent thinking to exercise good judgement in determining actions in emergency situations and maintain control.
  4. Other duties as assigned from time to time.
  5. Adhere to the behavioral standards and other policies set forth by the district.

 

  1. Completion of all educational and other related requirements annually by the district. 

 

  1. Upkeep of all related professional licenses including BLS.

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

 


EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

1.         Vocational Ultrasound Technology or formal AMA approved educational program.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

 

  1. ARDMS and or ARRT (US) certified or eligible. 
  2. Current BLS certification required.

Salary Information

$39.17 - $45.48 Hourly Wage
