Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking a Middle School Program Coordinator to support in the day to day management and operations of our After-School Program. The After-school Program Coordinator will assist in the overall administration of BPCS’s After-school Program including but not limited to: implementation of enrichment activities, advertising the program, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and school staff and organizing special events.  The ideal candidate is an energetic self starter who possesses experience in after school programming, data entry, event management and some office management experience


Hours and Location: 


Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 1:30 pm - 6 pm

Wednesday from 1:00 pm - 6 pm

About You – What You’ll Do as a Part-Time After-School Coordinator

  • Manage the online database of student information

  • Oversee and record daily attendance

  • Partner with the Program Manager to ensure classes maintain a 15:1 student-to-staff ratio

  • Coordinate space usage with the Middle School Operations team

  • Manage event calendars and scheduling

  • Create agendas and lead team meetings

  • Plan and support special events and school functions

  • Directly supervise school aides

  • Plan field trips and group activities in collaboration with the Program Manager and school staff

  • Assist with program setup, snack distribution, and cleanup

  • Help design and schedule activities that reflect BPCS’s mission and align with DYCD program structure

  • Oversee the storage, use, and inventory of all program supplies

  • Complete selected data entry tasks

  • Create promotional materials and support outreach and retention strategies

  • Take initiative and offer suggestions for improving the overall program

  • Promote teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship, including holding students accountable for behavior on site and during trips

  • Provide site-based support to teachers, tutors, and activity specialists in implementing programming

  • Help facilitate smooth transitions from the school day to after-school programming and snack, in alignment with day school standards

  • Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural, and artistic growth

  • Provide coverage for activity specialists when needed

  • Communicate program challenges, progress, and successes with the After-School Program Director

  • Provide direction and coaching to Activity Specialists, including developing individual work schedules and supporting training; you may also participate in hiring and performance feedback

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the After-School Program Manager

Education & Training

  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated passion for BPCS’s mission and a strong interest in education and youth development

  • Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, or comparable software

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., copier, phone system, Mac OS computer)

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, program participants, families, and the general public

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, including employment history and criminal background

Salary: Hourly $25 - $35 based on years of experience
