Job Summary 

This position is responsible for supporting and executing the organization’s pricing and margin optimization strategy by developing, maintaining, and analyzing pricing structures across all branches.

Working closely with Supply, Logistics, Accounting, and Operations, the role ensures pricing components reflect accurate cost inputs, market conditions, and profitability targets. The position provides data-driven insights into branch performance, margin recovery, freight allocation, and pricing effectiveness while ensuring system accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes analytical rigor, financial accountability, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous process improvement to support sustainable profitability and operational excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Determine, develop, and maintain key pricing components to ensure profitability aligns with company financial targets.
  • Create and maintain pricing structures that reflect cost fluctuations, transportation inputs, tank costs, rebates, and margin recovery objectives.
  • Construct and maintain Price Books within AFD’s operating system, ensuring system integrity and pricing accuracy.
  • Review and approve Price Book updates, ensuring alignment with margin strategy and corporate pricing policies.
  • Establish and monitor maximum margin opportunity related to recovery and margin price components for bulk and cardlock volumes.
  • Develop and maintain pricing modifiers and adjustment mechanisms to respond to market volatility and supply changes.
  • Assist Supply and Logistics with transportation type and route analysis to support cost optimization and margin protection.
  • Conduct research and gather market pricing intelligence to support competitive and strategic price positioning.
  • Allocate freight and tank costs accurately across branches and product categories.
  • Perform weekly branch profitability analysis, identifying margin trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct branch and inventory analytics to support decision-making and working capital optimization.
  • Liaise with Accounting to validate cost inputs, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Liaise with the BEER Director regarding accountability matrices and branch performance metrics.
  • Support reporting requirements and collaborate with internal departments to provide pricing-related data to applicable government agencies as required.
  • Provide pricing and financial analysis support for strategic projects and business initiatives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within pricing, reporting, and analytics workflows.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Requirements

Education

  • Post-Secondary Bachelor of Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in an analytics-focused, pricing, financial analysis, or cost-accounting role.
     Experience in fuel, logistics, transportation, commodity, or margin-sensitive industries considered a strong asset.

Other Skills (knowledge)

  • Excellent computer and analytic skills and at least 2 years’ experience using MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power BI, and Business Central.
  • Able to exercise discretion, judgment, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Decision Making

Exercises independent judgment in maintaining and adjusting pricing structures to support margin and profitability targets. Analyzes cost inputs, market data, and branch performance to recommend pricing actions, identify risks, and resolve discrepancies. Escalates strategic or high-impact pricing decisions to senior leadership while ensuring day-to-day pricing accuracy and system integrity. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee primarily works in an office environment but may also spend time in a yard or transportation setting. Occasional visits to work sites may be required. The employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions, moderate noise levels, dust, odors, fumes, and vehicle-related oils. While performing the duties of this position, the employee primarily works in an office environment but may also spend time in the AFD yard, client site, driving, and in other transportation settings. Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position in office, typically scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime or work outside of regular business hours may be required based on operational needs.

Travel

Travel to various worksites and customer premises may be required.
