At de Lazy Lizard, the dishwasher is one of the most vital positions in the entire restaurant. In a fast-paced, 750-seat, high-volume environment, the success of every shift depends on the dish team. Without clean plates, glassware, cookware, and utensils, the kitchen stops, service slows down, and the guest experience suffers.
Dishwashers keep the entire operation moving. This role is responsible for maintaining a constant flow of clean and sanitized dishes, supporting the kitchen and service teams, and helping ensure that every guest receives their meal on time with the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. The dishwasher works to keep the restaurant operating smoothly during busy shifts. This position requires urgency, organization, teamwork, and the ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
At de Lazy Lizard, dishwashers are not just washing dishes — they are protecting food safety, supporting every department in the restaurant, and helping power one of Ocean City's busiest waterfront restaurants.
Requirements:- Operate the commercial dish machine and three-compartment sink according to health and safety standards
- Maintain a constant supply of clean plates, silverware, glassware, and kitchen equipment during service
- Sort, rinse, load, and unload dishes quickly and efficiently to keep up with a high-volume environment
- Wash pots, pans, and cooking equipment used by the kitchen team
- Keep dish areas clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times
- Remove trash and recycling and assist with maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen and service areas
- Support kitchen staff by returning clean equipment and supplies to proper stations
- Follow all health department, sanitation, and food safety procedures
- Assist with basic cleaning tasks and end-of-night closing duties
