About this position

The paraprofessional is knowledgeable of child development, disabilities, and different learning styles. They are able and willing to implement services outlined in the student’s IEP, as well as support all students in the learning environment. The paraprofessional is flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions and exercises good judgment in taking initiative to modify activities to meet the needs of all students.


Requirements

Key Competencies: Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Implement services, supports and interventions directly to students with the guidance and supervision from a teacher, such as note-taking, movement breaks, technology use, previewing or reviewing skills, and field trip supervision
  • Assist in making or providing materials for an individual, group, or class to help the teacher create curricular modifications for all 
  • Collaborate and communicate with team members regarding students’ needs and progress
  • Facilitate oral and written communication with linguistically and culturally diverse parents/guardians
  • Assist with the personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding) as identified in the student’s IEP
  • Support students who exhibit problem behavior; e.g. implementing behavior plan and collecting data 
  • Participate in individual and group professional development activities. 
  • Document any services as required by CPS and Namaste Charter School
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned including clerical tasks

Qualifications

Spanish Fluency strongly preferred

Paraprofessional License required

Strong collaborator


Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits determined in accordance with collective bargaining agreement, based on relevant experience
