Description:

The Urban League Economic Development Corporation is a not-for-profit development and management company that assists low- and moderate income families and seniors to secure suitable housing across upstate New York. 


The Full-time Leasing Agent assists the Site Manager to oversee the daily activities of the property including financial results, legal and compliance adherence and resident satisfaction.

  • Assists the Site Manager to manage all aspects of a building’s occupancy.
  • Answers phone calls, messages, and email promptly; within a few hours but never exceeding 24 hours.
  • Promotes resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner.
  • Meets with prospective tenants to show properties, conduct interviews, receive rental applications, and explain terms of occupancy.
  • Processes applications and assists the Site Manager and maintains the waitlist.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Performs or assists with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules.
  • Complies with anti-discrimination laws regarding housing, renting, and advertising.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training in the property management field.
  • Valid Class D driver’s license required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent time management and communication skills are necessary.
  • Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive email messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing, bookkeeping, and/or data entry.
  • Proficient with a tablet or similar device for daily tasks.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence and fill out completed spreadsheets.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving issues that may arrive in the day to day operations.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. 
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. 
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. 
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles,, and outside weather conditions. 
  • May be exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. 
  • The noise level in the work environment may become loud.
