Position summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to learn to produce fabricated parts by welding maintaining quality and safety standards by observing and hands on application. The position is also to produce assemblies using various component and welding them together to specifications.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
· Cut material for parts as needed, and produce from blueprints.
· Work with a variety of calipers or micrometers, measuring tools.
· Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning.
· Use engineering drawings to cut metal into shapes. Fit, set, and install fabricated structures.
· Understand weld symbols. Provide feedback on fabrication process.
· Mig and Tig welding - Required Skill.
· Climb in and out of assemblies.
· Follow and learn from mentor.
· All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Incumbent will be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone or handheld mobile device for short periods of time, and office machinery as needed.
- Incumbent will be required to use basic hand tools, and measuring tools.
- Incumbent is required to climb in and out of large assemblies, using a ladder or step stool.
- Incumbent will work in a confined space.
- Incumbent is exposed to moving mechanical parts while performing the duties of this job.
- Incumbent is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Work involves occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, such as fumes, loud noises, etc.
- Individual will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds constantly.
- Work involves long periods of standing, bending, twisting, turning.
- Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak.
- Incumbent must wear Personal Protective Equipment while working, including a welding shield and gloves for long periods of time.
Work days and shifts:
Position works Monday – Friday, daylight hours, and additional time as needed to complete work.
Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:
High School Diploma or GED; and/or equivalent work experience.
Experience/Other required:
· Welding experience from Vo. Technical Institution or equivalent
· Knowledge of all types of welding
· Ability to read blueprints, and develop the skillset to understand blueprints
· Knowledge of welding fundamentals
