Location: 390 Bay St., Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Wages: $32,760 to $49,140, commensurate with experience and education

Duration of employment: Permanent

Primary Function:

The Community Economic Development and Outreach Coordinator provides administrative and operational coordination for community engagement, workforce development, and local economic development initiatives. The role includes coordinating stakeholder consultations, documenting information shared by technical and non-technical community partners, and supporting administrative processes related to inclusive workforce initiatives. The Coordinator supports the Project Lead in implementing projects aimed at improving access to employment opportunities and strengthening community participation.


The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating engagement activities, maintaining project documentation, supporting compliance with funding and reporting requirements, and assisting with scheduling and day-to-day administrative operations. The role focuses on ensuring community and workforce initiatives are implemented efficiently and in accordance with organizational policies, funding agreements, and ethical standards. The Coordinator performs assigned administrative functions under the direction of the Project Lead.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day administrative and operational activities related to community engagement and economic development projects
  • Support the implementation of project work plans by coordinating tasks, timelines, outreach activities, and deliverables in collaboration with the Project Lead
  • Schedule community meetings, stakeholder consultations, workshops, and outreach sessions, and assist in organizing them
  • Assist with coordination of tasks among team members to support timely completion of community and economic development activities
  • Maintain organized records of stakeholder communications, partnership agreements, engagement activities, and project documentation
  • Ensure documentation, records, and files are complete and maintained in accordance with funding agreements and the Employer's policies
  • Support compliance with contribution agreements by assisting with reporting, documentation, and administrative requirements
  • Coordinate the secure handling and storage of community, workforce, and partner-related data in accordance with established protocols, including documenting stakeholder information requirements and supporting administrative data management processes
  • Assist with quality control by reviewing administrative documents, engagement summaries, and reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Assemble information and assist in preparing periodic and special reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and summaries related to community and economic development initiatives


In support of the Project Lead, the Community Economic Development and Outreach Coordinator may also assist with:

  • Administrative support related to project budgeting, expense tracking, and documentation
  • Supporting compliance-related activities, including record keeping for audits, funder reviews, and internal reporting
  • Administering procedures related to the archiving, access, and release of confidential or sensitive information
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree will be an asset)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support, community outreach coordination, or program support
  • Experience supporting community-based projects is required
  • Experience in workforce development and health-related project coordination is an asset
  • Experience organizing meetings, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activities
  • Experience maintaining communication records and engagement tracking systems
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is required; experience in an academic/research setting is an asset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners and team members
  • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to maintain and organize quantitative data related to project planning and tracking
