General Job Summary:
Responsible for launching new product such as stand-alone sheet metal components and up to complex electro-mechanical assemblies from documentation control/management through shipping.

- Responsible for selecting processes and assisting with cost estimates for new products and tools.
- Responsible for Floor Engineering Tech support for his or her part portfolio or customer base.
- Effectively utilize Lean Principles when engineering the manufacturing processes.
- Develops and documents machine processes and manual processes appropriate for the materials used to manufacture new and existing Customer products.
- Aware of new and existing products based upon the ‘total production cost’ during the product launch and through life of the product.
- Serves as technical expert for the Proview Team (Prototype)
- Serves as technical expert for the NORP (New Order Review Process) Team for launching new product into Production.
- Will assist Technical Sales Engineer for specific programs.
- Responsible for assisting and reviewing complex cost estimates.
- Responsible for product quality and process safety. Interfaces with Quality to determine effective Quality Plans and if necessary implement NCMR root cause and corrective action closure.
- Manages Continuous Improvement Projects.
- May be asked to mentor other Manufacturing and Tool Design Engineers and oversee cross-functional project teams ensuring cost and price profitability to drive cost up front.

Education
Associate’s degree (A.S.)
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) preferred
Industrial/Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
5-10 years related experience or training
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Project, Internet Explorer, Auto-CAD, strong 3D modeling (SolidWorks)
Other Requirements:
Familiar with the sheet-metal industry, including fabrication and hard tooling for stamping, forming and welding of steel, stainless, aluminum as well as other metals. Familiar with DFM/DFA principals to reduce costs. Strong GD&T skill set. Familiar with assembly techniques. Tool-making or tool-engineering experience a plus. Ability to present a positive ownership attitude towards work responsibilities. Mental and visual attention with concentration on detail.
Language Skills:
High Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
High Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
