Salary Range: $125,000-$250,000/year (Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience)

Job Summary:

The Physician provides patient assessment and diagnosis, performs simple office procedures, formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications, orders laboratory tests, and provides patient education, while maintaining safety standards and delivering consistent quality patient care.


Education and Experience:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, or another relevant specialty.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Colorado and registered with DORA.
  • DEA registration.
  • Must have 2+ years experience in addiction medicine and behavioral health.
  • BLS certification required.

  • On-call availability.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct client care via health services, education, counseling, and emotional support with compassion.
  • Diagnose and manage co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health professionals.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Sign residential intake orders (including admission, OTC PRN meds, basic nutritional support meds, diet and activity levels.)
  • Assess for appropriateness of Vivitrol and perform and follow Vivitrol treatment to such candidates.
  • Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms, side effects of medications, and overall progress.
  • Provide crisis intervention and medical support for acute conditions as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about addiction, treatment options, and recovery strategies.
  • Oversee an admission physical for all participants, act as their local general practitioner for any medical needs while at NRT (checkups, illnesses, medications, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to integrated care planning.
  • Support and mentor medical and clinical staff and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Medical Providers, Director of Operations, and Clinical Director to create and implement standard-of-care guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation of services including service plans, progress notes, medication informed consent, treatment plan reviews, and other required information.
  • Complete detox admission/discharge summary and RTC/PHP discharge summary as indicated by level of care. 
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO, local, state, and federal policies and regulations, including accurate recordkeeping.
  • Rotating on-call.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working/typing on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs, walking, bending, reaching, sitting, standing, using hands, see, talk, hear.
  • Exposure to a medical and clinical environment.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times. 
  • Driving in all weather conditions.
