About this position

Job Purpose/Description

Alumni Engagement student assistants play a critical role in building relationships and keeping lines of communication open with alums of the College. The Alumni Engagement office assistant supports the Alumni Engagement Office through their communication (including social media, website updates, emails, written, etc.) efforts, assisting with events, and database components, and spreading philanthropic awareness amongst students.

Job Duties

  • Participate in planning and executing alumni and student events.
  • In collaboration with the Alumni Engagement Officer, assist in drafting mass email communications.
  • Answer alumni phone calls and assist with questions, including event registrations, etc.
  • Contact event participants to conduct RSVP reminder calls, event surveys, and feedback.
  • Send digital and handwritten correspondence, thank you letters to alumni/donors of the College.
  • Enter data and updates into Slate database.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure the security of all information and data
  • Work in a team-oriented environment to develop and grow alumni engagement and students’ understanding of philanthropy.
  • Various office duties, including, but not limited to answering phones, managing supply inventory, and helping with large mailings.
  • Other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current or incoming CSS student        
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on phone and email etiquette
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner
  • A problem-solving mentality and ability to think strategically in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional presence to represent the College to the public
  • Experience working with confidential information and willingness to comply and enforce security protocols
  • Passion for The College of St. Scholastica and desire to advance the mission of the College
  • Must be reliable, able to work as a member of a team, and use own initiative when appropriate
  • Must be able to work at least two shifts per week (approx. 8 hours) on the Duluth main campus
  • Must be available to work evening and weekend event shifts when requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in writing and customer service skills
  • Experience in HTML or software coding
