Position Summary:
The Closing Assistant Manager plays a vital leadership role in overseeing store operations during evening shifts and ensuring a successful, secure daily close at our Greenwood Village location. This position emphasizes leadership, sales development, merchandising excellence, and promotional execution. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, confident in team leadership, and energized by helping others grow and succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Closing Manager on Duty (MOD):
- Oversee all store operations during evening shifts, including staff supervision and customer service escalation.
- Execute end-of-day procedures: securing store, reconciling registers, and completing shift reports.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and secure store environment at close.
2. Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA):
- Provide consistent guidance and coaching to team members during evening shifts.
- Enforce company policies and expectations while modeling professionalism and positivity.
- Hold the team accountable to store standards and shift goals.
3. Maintain Merchandising Standards:
- Ensure displays and product placements remain visually appealing and stocked through end-of-day.
- Support execution of merchandising plans and seasonal resets as directed by the Director and merchandising team.
- Correct and report merchandising issues as needed during the shift.
4. Develop Knowledgeable Sales Staff:
- Promote a culture of product knowledge and customer service excellence.
- Provide on-the-floor coaching to staff, reinforcing product facts, upselling techniques, and service skills.
- Partner with department leads and management on training and development strategies.
5. Product Promotion & Marketing Direction:
- Implement in-store marketing campaigns and promotional signage as assigned.
- Communicate current promotions and featured products to both staff and customers.
- Offer feedback on customer response to promotions to help guide future campaigns.
6. Special Order Management:
- Support customers with special orders by gathering product information, completing forms, and following up on status.
- Collaborate with buyers and department leads to fulfill requests efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure proper documentation and communication for all special orders placed during evening shifts.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of retail, customer service, or team leadership experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to mentoring others
- Understanding of merchandising principles and promotional execution
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience in liquor retail or knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits a plus
