About this position
Job Summary:
The Shift supervisor supervises all facets of the shift including ensuring appropriate staffing levels, employee issues, production schedules are met, and ensures the safety of plant employees.
Responsibilities:
- Determines machine setup procedures
- Starts and adjusts machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials or ingredients
- Optimizes product output. Optimizes product quality
- Monitors machine operations and observe lights and gauges to detect malfunctions
- Checks the quality of products
- Shuts down machines if quality or machine problems cannot be corrected in a reasonable time frame
- Enforces all safety and environmental guidelines
- Ensures that the right people are in the right places at the right times, that they are trained, and mentored to develop to be their personal best
- Monitor all documentation to ensure all is in compliance
- Ensures that all work areas are clean and organized
- Receives information from Production Manager about: products, production schedule, raw materials and recipes, quality specifications, safety and environmental guidelines, and manufacturing process changes and improvements
- Informs the Production Manager about product quality problems, equipment problems, problems with personnel, machine downtime, work orders to request repairs from maintenance, safety concerns and education/training needs
- Informs Machine Operators and Assistant Shift Supervisors about: machine setup changes and process related information
- Any other duties that the Company in its sole discretion may assign as needed

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma / GED, required
- Associates Degree or completion of a Certificate in manufacturing, science, machine tool technology, welding, industrial technology, or other related areas, preferred
- Previous experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing with at least 5 subordinates
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires, but is not limited to, standing, walking, utilizing stairs or ladders, driving automatic forklift, climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing and grasping.
- Must be able to work in a non-controlled environment
