About this position

Our client, a well-established and respected financial institution, is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer to originate, grow, and manage a high-performing portfolio of commercial lending relationships.

This role is ideal for a motivated, sales-driven professional with a proven track record in business lending and a deep understanding of commercial financial products and regulatory requirements.

Salary range: $85,000 to $107,000 a year

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively source and originate new commercial loan opportunities to meet or exceed growth targets.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for borrowers, ensuring a smooth, transparent process from application to closing.

  • Develop strong, trust-based relationships with business clients, community partners, and referral sources.

  • Represent the institution at business and community events to enhance brand visibility and foster new opportunities.

  • Analyze and process commercial loan applications with precision and compliance to internal and regulatory standards.

  • Stay current with market trends, economic developments, lending practices, and product innovations.

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional financial products to support client success.

  • Manage an assigned loan portfolio, ensuring risk management practices, timely renewals, and proactive client support.

  • Partner with internal teams to enhance commercial loan operations and member experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial or business lending, with an existing commercial loan portfolio.

  • Demonstrated success in a client-facing sales or production role within financial services.

  • Deep understanding of commercial loan products, underwriting principles, and compliance regulations.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
