Job Summary:
The Ultra sonographer is a registered or registry eligible Technologist who is responsible for the sonography needs of the patient while in the Radiology department.
Job Responsibilities:
• Make an initial assessment of and determines the needs of the day
• Is responsible for insuring that each patient receives safe, optimal care through appropriate planning and implementation of procedures
• Recognize job relationships and is willing to function effectively with the organizational structure
• Assume responsibility for insuring continued professional growth
• Perform other duties as assigned by department director or Administrator
Requirements:Education/Licensure Requirements:
• Certified by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers after completing an approved educational program, complying with the ethical and character standards
• Pass individual modality exams in Abdomen, GYN, Vascular and Echocardiograms as necessary
• Participate in CEU programs and hospital in-service education
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to stand, turn, and stoop while operating equipment and developing films
• Must be able to reach for, lift and carry equipment which can be moderately heavy
• Assist patients into position for procedures
• Visual acuity
Experience Requirements:
• Graduate from an accredited two year radiology program
• Current license with annual renewal
• Previous experience in Ultrasound and Radiology with cross training in CT desired
• Thorough knowledge of principles of Ultrasound and Radiology; Knowledge of Computed Tomography is desirable
• Knowledge of current trends and techniques in Ultrasound and Radiology; Computed Tomography knowledge is desirable
• Should identify own learning needs and seek opportunities for self development utilizing professional literature and other formal continuing education opportunities
