DC General Maintenance

The Maintenance Worker supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the warehouse by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role ensures that daily operations run smoothly and that all assets remain in good working condition.


Location: Cranbury, NJ 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Preventive Maintenance and Safety:

  • Check and replace interior and exterior lighting on a regular basis.
  • Pick up and discard empty cardboard boxes into the recycling compactor.
  • Sweep warehouse floors.
  • Operate the floor scrubber on warehouse floor.
  • Dust building for cobwebs and excessive dust buildup on walls, fixtures and product.
  • Operate scissor lift to clean and maintain high areas.
  • Maintain batteries with weekly water fill ups for material handling equipment.
  • Perform adjustments on the conveyor system.
  • Replace shelving and racking components as directed.
  •  

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment, including conveyors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock doors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic plumbing issues as they arise.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
  • Assist with general building upkeep, such as lighting, HVAC filters, and minor structural repairs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize downtime in warehouse operations.
  • Follow all safety protocols and support a clean, organized work environment.
  •  

    Other Areas of Responsibility:

  • Transfer trash and other items left outside of dumpsters into dumpsters.        Pick-up and sweep area.
  • Detail property on a regular basis.  Uses leaf blower and pressure washer to keep sidewalks and walking areas clean of debris.
  • Paint walls to keep them looking clean, as directed.
  • Maintain tool cabinet.
  • Perform Grounds Keeping
  • Empty trash receptacles into trash compactor.
  • Clean trap drains on the roof
  • Keep roof free of debris

    Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance, repair, or a related trade within an industrial or warehouse setting.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, basic electrical work, and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to diagnose issues, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical tasks as required.
  •  

    Education and/or Experience:

    High School diploma.

     

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.   Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

     

    Math Ability: 

    Ability to solve basic math problems.  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
