 Are you passionate about mentoring teens and shaping the next generation of leaders? We are seeking a dynamic and organized Youth Leadership Coordinator Coordinator to design, lead, and grow our leadership development programs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a camp environment, enjoys working directly with youth, and is excited about building meaningful, real-world learning experiences. 


POSITION SUMMARY: 

Plan and manage our Leaders-in-Training (LIT) and Counselors-in-Training (CIT) programs. These programs focus on preparing teens to enter the workforce by building key leadership and job-readiness skills. The coordinator will be responsible for both direct oversight and supervision of campers, as well as program design and development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design & develop the CIT and LIT programs working with the Day Camp Coordinator and Camp Director
  • Plan, lead and participate in all weekly LIT field trips, working within budget
  • Coordinate CIT and LIT mentoring assignments
  • Conduct leadership and professional development trainings weekly
  • Coordinate certification opportunities to CITs 
  • Complete necessary paperwork and safety checks for all field trips
  • Oversee the LIT Sr. Counselor to facilitate the daily programming
  • Recruit & schedule third-party workshops & visits to camp to enrich the LIT & CIT program 
  • Conduct end-of-season evaluations for all CITs
  • Coach and correct behaviors of the young leaders
  • Work alongside the Day Camp Coordinator to facilitate weekly theme activities
  • Provide overnight supervision during the last week of camp for any LITs & CITs spending the night
  • Complete any volunteer documentation associated with CITs for school/extracurricular credit, and for hours logged with the AYCC Volunteer Manager

WORK SCEHDULE: Seasonal, June-August; 4 full days (Mon-Fri)

 KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED and first aid certification or be willing to become certified within 90 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with middle-school and high-school age youth
  • Preferred: Prior experience in leadership development & behavioral management.
