Position Summary:

The Electrical Assembly Technician position is responsible for assembling electrical control panels for our customers within the automation industry. This includes assembling support structures used for necessary components and sub-assemblies. This position will include identifying areas of improvement to increase efficiency. This position will work closely with Application Specialists, Engineers, Managers, and Assembly.


This is a full-time non-exempt position.


Shift hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm but hours could vary


Pay Range: $24-$28 per hour based on experience


Responsibilities:

  • Assembly and/or wiring of electrical cabinets, control panels and electrical assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of three phase motors, programmable controls, circuits and National Electric Code and UL508A Standard.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to ensure conformance to specifications and to correct defects.
  • Properly align electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly.
  • Drill or tap holes in backplates for Din rail and wire duct mounting.
  • Modify stock enclosures to accommodate HMI, Pushbuttons, or other instrumentation.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs., long periods of walking or standing.
  • This position will include identifying areas of improvement to increase efficiency, including documentation control, standards, and quality.
  • This position will work closely with Application Specialists, Engineers, Managers, and Assembly

Requirements


EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical assembly is required, preferably in panel building. PLC programming experience, design talent, and technical support experience preferred. Experience fabricating parts and/or structures according to specifications is required. Experience with assembly tools and equipment required. Must have experience with soldering and/or micro-welding equipment. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in teams required.


Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience assembling electrical and/or electronic systems.
  • Experience installing electrical components, units, sub-assemblies, wiring and casings.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic drawings, and diagrams to determine assembly instructions and material requirements.
  • Skilled in explaining assembly procedures or techniques to others.


Education:

High School Diploma required. Some post high school training is desirable. Current enrollment in a technical degree program or an associate degree in a technical area is preferred. US Citizenship and Security Clearance may be needed for certain projects.
