COUNTY CORRECTIONAL POLICE OFFICEROVERVIEW:The Mercer CountyCorrection Center is seeking dedicated individuals to join our custody staff asCorrection Officers. This full-time position plays a vitalrole in maintaining public safety and security by providing direct supervisionof the inmate population.
WORKING HOURS:This is a full-time position requiringshift work in a 24-hour facility. Overtime is mandatory.SALARY:$42,500 (Candidates will remain at hiring salaryuntil the successful completion of the New Jersey Training Commission (NJPTC)authorized Basic Course for County Correctional Police Officers and regularappointment is approved).

Responsibilities:
- Provide public safety and security throughthe custody and management of those individuals incarcerated within the MercerCounty Correction Center.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of the staffand inmate population.
- Assist in the rehabilitative efforts forthose incarcerated individuals returning to the community.
- Promote public support for the operationand objectives of the Mercer County Correction Center.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18years of age.
- Education: High school diploma orequivalent.
- License: Valid New Jersey driver'slicense.
- Experience: Prior correctional experienceis preferred but not required.
TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT:
- Successful completion of a police trainingcourse approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission (NJPTC) is acondition of employment.
- Candidates hired as County Correctional Police Officer will transition to permanent status upon completion of theNJPTC Basic Course for County Correctional Police Officers.
- Training includes firearms proficiency andother law enforcement skills required for correctional officers.
