About this position
The Middle School Minister provides vision, leadership, and care for students in grades 6–8, creating environments where students encounter Jesus, build authentic relationships, grow in biblical understanding, and develop a lifelong faith. This leader equips volunteers, partners with parents, and integrates students into the larger church discipleship pathway.
Essential Job Functions:
Vision & Leadership
• Champion the church’s mission and values within Middle School Ministry.
• Develop a strategic discipleship pathway for middle school students.
• Create engaging, Christ-centered environments for weekly gatherings.
• Ensure alignment with the overall Next Gen and church vision.
Student Discipleship
• Teach regularly in large- and small-group environments.
• Cultivate relational discipleship through presence at gatherings, events, and student activities.
• Provide care to students and families as needed.
• Encourage spiritual practices: Scripture engagement, prayer, worship, service.
Volunteer Leadership
• Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd volunteer leaders.
• Maintain strong communication and appreciation rhythms.
• Develop leaders spiritually and practically.
• Foster a healthy volunteer culture marked by unity and fun.
Parent Partnership
• Communicate consistently with parents about ministry vision, events, and discipleship resources.
• Equip parents to disciple their middle school students at home.
• Build trust through accessibility and responsiveness.
Programming & Events
• Oversee weekly gatherings, small groups, camps, retreats, and outreach events.
• Ensure environments are safe, welcoming, and spiritually impactful.
• Collaborate with Kids, High School, and churchwide ministries for transitions.
Administration & Operations
• Manage ministry budget responsibly.
• Maintain attendance records, volunteer rosters, and follow-up systems.
• Ensure compliance with child safety policies.
• Coordinate with the facilities team.
• Growing relationship with Jesus.
• 2+ years in student ministry.
• Ability to relate effectively to middle school students.
• Strong biblical knowledge and teaching ability.
• Team builder with positive, energetic presence.
• Understands and agrees with Calvary PSL’s statement of faith, mission, and core commitments.
This position performs Ministerial duties, which include:
• Praying with people
• Providing Biblical guidance, assistance, and spiritual wisdom to individuals dealing with personal issues
• Leading and/or actively participating in Discipleship Environments
• Assisting with administering the ordinances of baptism and communion
• Organizing and directing ministry programs within your area
• Leading and/or participating in outreach endeavors
• Supervising the Church’s administration and finances within your area
