POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer is a core contributor to the design and evolution of our industry-leading OEM equipment. This role develops and supports electrical, control, and automation systems that are core to highly specialized manufacturing tools. From concept through production and field support, the Electrical Engineer ensures products meet demanding customer and regulatory requirements while remaining efficient, reliable, and manufacturable. This position also plays a hands-on role in troubleshooting, system installation, continuous improvement, and technical support for new product opportunities.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which restricts access to export-controlled information to U.S. persons. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Electrical & Control System Development
- Design and develop electrical and control systems for new and existing products
- Incorporate new technologies that improve performance, reliability, and customer value
- Develop and maintain electrical circuits and schematics, CAD drawings, assembly instructions, and test procedures
- Develop software and controls that integrate into fiber optic products
- Support equipment selection and recommend tooling or equipment needed for production (captured during proposal efforts)
- Participate in installation, startup, and debug of equipment and tooling
- Perform functional test and verification of new designs
- Work with regulatory test groups to certify products for international use
Troubleshooting & Product Support
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues on existing products
- Perform root cause analysis and document repair requirements
- Recommend and implement preventative or corrective actions
- Support our systems and products as developed or acquired, including but not limited to polishing machines, laser cleavers, cure ovens, industrial microscopes
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate technical activities on assigned projects
- Communicate project status, risks, and technical details to appropriate stakeholders
- Identify and resolve “out of spec” manufacturing issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Support sales team with technical input for proposals, estimates, and customer communication
- Prepare, maintain, and control detailed project and engineering documentation
- Document and implement engineering changes initiated internally or by customers
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities in manufacturing and assembly processes
- Recommend design or process changes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain effective working relationships with customers and internal teams
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment and skilled with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong professionalism and effective written and oral communication, both internally and externally.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Collaborate well cross-functionally with project managers, materials procurement, design, process development, quality, and customers.
- Demonstrate a hands-on, self-starting attitude with strong interpersonal and technical skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2 years of relevant work experience is preferred
- Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware
- Working knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM systems used to generate electrical or mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with printed circuit board design and circuit board layouot
- Experience in a fiber optics/telecommunications, industrial automation, or precision manufacturing/machining industry is preferred
- Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight air travel

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is office-based and involves regular exposure and interaction with active manufacturing areas on the production floor.
- Employees may be exposed to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and composite or steel-toe shoes are required.
- The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled facility with modern equipment and a safety-first culture. Ambient conditions include typical plant lighting and machinery operation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sit or stand as needed.
- Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
- Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
- Proper lifting techniques required.
