About this position
Description:
Cognito is seeking a skilled automotive/powersports/machinery technician to perform mechanical work on passenger trucks, UTVs and facilities equipment, with a focus on suspension and steering component installations, repairs and test fitting. This position requires good all-around, automotive mechanical knowledge, including fuel, cooling, electrical and drivetrain systems. Must be reliable, organized, tidy and interested in learning and improving your skills and performance.
Must be able to perform the following:
- Suspension and steering component installation and set-up.
- Ability to follow written installation instructions.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and solve mechanical problems.
- Self-check and quality control personal work and department's work.
- Accurately account for parts, materials and labor.
- Operate power tools and vehicle hoists properly and safely.
- Read and understand schematics, repair manuals, parts manuals and other related documents.
- Safely handle chemicals, fuels, batteries and other hazardous materials.
- Use common sense and look out for the safety of others in the work environment.
- Learn quickly and carry out assignments accurately and thoroughly with minimal supervision.
- Work well as a team member company-wide, and get along with others regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks.
- Show up to work on time, all the time and be ready to go to work.
Education, Capabilities & Skills preferred:
- Two years of experience working in a professional automotive or powersports service and repair shop (or acceptable equivalent).

- Tire and Wheel Mounting/Balancing
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder and stairs
- Must be able to stoop, crawl, kneel and maneuver around parts and equipment
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Travel and provide support for testing and racing as needed.
Salary Information
$24.00 - $30.00
