Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our multi-entity startup team in New York City. A successful Staff Accountant combines solid analytical skills with a deep knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. As the company grows and adds to the team, this role will be ever-changing and require the candidate to be flexible and open-minded while being detail-oriented and capable of helping create account processes for a fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will have experience with ERP systems and be comfortable wearing many hats in a dynamic startup environment and will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with our finance team.

Responsibilities

General Accounting:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and other financial documentation, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

ERP Management:

  • Utilize ERP software for accounting processes and ensure accurate data entry and reporting.

Month-End Close:

  • Support the multi-entity month-end close process, including the preparation of account reconciliations.

Compliance:

  • Support compliance with financial and tax regulations, GAAP standards, and company policies.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Collaborate with other departments to support business operations and provide financial insights and undertake special projects.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience, startup environment strongly preferred.
  • ERP Proficiency.
  • Skills:
    • General understanding and ability to apply knowledge of US GAAP.
    • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure; dependable with deliverables and deadlines; able to multi-task.
    • Confidence, good judgment, self-motivation, energy, and personality to work in a fast-paced environment across all levels of management, functions, and geographies.
    • Willingness to take on various roles and responsibilities as needed in a dynamic work environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
