About this position
Company: BFC Solutions
BFC Solutions is a fast-growing, operations-driven organization focused on delivering reliable service to our customers. We value integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across our teams. If you’re curious, hands-on, and eager to grow with a company on the move, this is a great opportunity to build your career in procurement and plant operations.
About the Role
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of materials to ensure on-time delivery, optimal inventory levels, and efficient workflow. This role bridges purchasing and planning functions and requires strong analytical skills, supplier management capabilities, and cross-functional partnership with plant leadership and Finance/AP. The Purchasing Manager owns purchasing execution (materials/parts/services as applicable) and is a key contributor to the S&OP process.
This is a highly collaborative role. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, willing to learn, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift as we scale. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape purchasing processes and grow your scope as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end purchasing for plant needs (MRO, parts, supplies, services, and other assigned categories): requisitions, purchase orders, expediting, receiving coordination, and invoice issue resolution.
- Maintain continuity of supply; identify constraints early and coordinate alternatives with production and maintenance leaders.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors to support continuity of supply.
- Coordinate with production, New Business Onboarding/Sales, and warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Manage supplier performance (responsiveness, on-time delivery, quality via vendor scorecards) and resolve shortages, late shipments, and damages/claims.
- Gather quotes and support negotiations within approval authority; enforce pricing discipline and manage vendor price changes.
- Partner with Finance/AP to resolve three-way match discrepancies and ensure clean documentation for audit and controls.
- Maintain accurate item master and vendor data (pricing, MOQ, lead times, UOMs, preferred suppliers) in applicable systems.
- Support inventory health: reorder points/min-max where appropriate, stockout prevention, and reduction of excess/obsolete inventory with warehouse/operations; analyze usage trends and adjust as needed.
- Build and maintain simple procurement KPI reporting (e.g., supplier OTD, lead times, PO cycle time, price variance, savings pipeline) and communicate risks/issues proactively.
- Drive continuous improvement through standardization, supplier consolidation, and process improvements that reduce cost and improve service to the plant.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies, approval limits, and ethical sourcing expectations.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and improved planning accuracy.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Support implementation of new ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing and planning activities.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a plant/manufacturing/industrial environment (or comparable operational setting).
- Demonstrated experience managing the full PO lifecycle, expediting, vendor communication, and problem resolution.
- Working knowledge of inventory practices (cycle counts, min/max, reorder points) and strong attention to data accuracy.
- Proficiency with ERP/procurement tools and Excel; ability to build and maintain trackers and basic reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to partner effectively with Plant Leadership, Maintenance, Production, and Finance/AP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and vendor-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
- Understanding of production processes, lead times, and inventory principles.
