Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented temporary Technical Designer and Patternmaker to support our product development team. In this role, you will work closely with designers to bring creative concepts to life through accurate technical specifications and expertly constructed patterns. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, has a strong understanding of garment construction, and seeks a flexible, temporary role.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Design:
- Translate uniform design concepts into comprehensive tech packs, including flat sketches, construction details, measurements, and bill of materials (BOM)
- Ensure patterns and tech specs support ease of movement, durability, and ergonomic design appropriate to the end user's job function
- Lead and document fit sessions, and communicate revisions clearly to sample rooms and production teams
- Maintain technical consistency across sizes and styles for a wide range of body types
Patternmaking:
- Draft, digitize, and grade patterns using manual or CAD methods (e.g., Gerber, Optitex, CLO, or Lectra)
- Create accurate patterns optimized for industrial washing, mass production, and repeated wear
- Make necessary adjustments to improve garment durability, reinforce high-wear areas, and meet safety or uniform standards where applicable
- Partner with sample makers or vendors to resolve construction challenges and streamline production readiness
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work with internal teams and external manufacturers to ensure technical accuracy and timely sample delivery
- Collaborate with design, production, and sales to ensure that uniforms align with brand identity, compliance standards, and customer expectations
- Maintain clear and organized documentation throughout the development cycle
Requirements:
- Degree or certification in Fashion Design, Patternmaking, Technical Design, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in apparel technical design and/or patternmaking
- Experience with CAD patternmaking software (Tukatech or other)
- Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and fit standards
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently on a temporary basis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
