Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in the preparation and baking of artisan breads, pastries, and seasonal specialties.
- Scale, mix, shape, and proof doughs according to established formulas and schedules.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.
- Follow fermentation timelines and dough-handling techniques essential to artisan baking.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure quality and consistency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, food-safe work environment.
- Assist with ingredient prep, mise en place, and end-of-day cleaning.
- Help with packing and labeling of baked goods for retail and wholesale.
- Uphold the bakery’s quality standards and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Comply with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication, time and resource management, and planning skills.
- Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create baked goods.
- Flexibility to various hours and shifts to meet the needs of the bakery, including early morning, night, weekend, and holiday availability.
- Ability to work in a hot, hectic environment; stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances; and lift heavy items for extended periods.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior baking experience in a restaurant, café setting.
- More education or experience may be preferred.
