About this position

Our client is actively seeking experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) to provide high-quality, compassionate care within a correctional healthcare setting.

Working under the supervision of the facility physician, the ARNP will play a critical role in delivering primary and urgent care, supporting treatment planning, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to address the complex medical needs of the inmate/resident population.

Salary range: $100,000 to $175,000 a year

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive primary and urgent care services, including exams, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to guide patient management.

  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within licensure scope.

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members.

  • Accurately document all patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes in electronic medical records.

  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate clinically appropriate early releases.

  • Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.

  • Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of medical equipment and clinical areas.

  • Collaborate effectively with correctional officers, internal staff, and external healthcare providers.

  • Provide patient education and health counseling to individuals and small groups.

  • Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR and administering first aid.

  • Support compliance with NCCHC, ACA, and JCAHO standards through documentation and continuous improvement.

  • Attend staff meetings and participate in interdisciplinary committees to enhance healthcare delivery.

  • Remain vigilant and responsive in high-pressure or potentially volatile situations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure and/or certification as an ARNP in the state of employment.

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience (correctional, emergency, or public health experience a plus).

  • Family Practice certification or training preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Strong clinical judgment and excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a secure environment and remain calm under pressure.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts and adapt to a controlled setting.
