About this position
Position Summary:
Shop Labor is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations of the truss shop, including assembling wood trusses, operating equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and assisting with loading and unloading materials.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in the assembly of wood trusses according to design specifications and shop drawings.
· Operate power tools, pneumatic nailers, saws, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
· Measure and cut lumber and other materials as needed.
· Load, unload, and move materials throughout the shop and yard.
· Perform quality checks to ensure trusses meet design and safety standards.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
· Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
· Assist design or technical teams with shop-related input when necessary.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or manufacturing a plus, but not required—willing to train the right candidate.
· Ability to read and understand tape measures, blueprints, and shop drawings.
· Basic math skills and attention to detail.
· Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and standing for extended periods.
· Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
· Strong work ethic and reliability.
Work Environment:
The position is based in a truss manufacturing facility, which includes both indoor and partially open-air workspaces. The environment can be noisy and fast-paced, with saws, nail guns and forklifts in operation.
Work may be performed in various weather conditions and shop areas may not be climate-controlled.
