JOB OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Administrator, to ensure that all areas of Riviera living buildings are cleaned to a high standard in compliance with the specific cleaning guides and schedules and that they effectively meet the client’s needs. This includes but may not be limited to daily cleaning of clients’ rooms, hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, staff offices, common areas, indoor and outdoor public spaces. 

 

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Maintains a safe and clean environment at all times and report all safety concerns to Administrator. 
  • Consistently perform job in a safe manner. 
  • Follow all program policies pertaining to safety including OSHA standards into best practices. 
  • To always be alert and use your own initiative, spot clean any spillages as they occur. 
  • Empty trash throughout facility.
  • Clean, mop, scrub, sweep, and/or vacuum floors in all offices, and client bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Clean client rooms and office spaces thoroughly by mopping floors, washing furniture, scrubbing plastic cushions, frames, and cleaning and washing bathroom fixtures and walls.
  • Follow all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures, and uses PPE as needed while cleaning all areas. 
  • Clean all flooring appropriately with respective cleaning solutions.  
  • Toilet areas including lavatories, shelves, mirrors, and floors are cleaned and disinfected daily using materials and equipment provided.
  • Clean all communal area furniture daily, by means of dusting/polishing desks, chairs, tales, filing cabinets, cupboards, etc. using appropriate equipment and materials provided. 
  • Report to Administrator any repairs or maintenance needed observed during cleaning activities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

The position requires a hands-on professional and have the following qualifications:

The person in this position must have an interest and willingness to work in the field of developmental disabilities, be flexible to support client choice by setting aside one's values and support the values and mission of the organization. Must be willing to do routine or detailed task, work effectively and productively as a team member. Must be emotionally stable, patient, tolerant, tactful, alert, and have a neat personal appearance for successful job performance. Each housekeeper is expected to contribute to staff morale by supporting the team with enthusiasm, confidence, and loyalty. The individual must possess excellent verbal/written communication, use respectful and courteous language when communicating with team members, residents, parents/guardians, visitors, and have a pleasant and positive attitude.

 

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (Required)

  • May also have histories of assaultive behavior.
  • May have cognitive difficulties and medical co-morbidities and are considered medically fragile; may also be developmentally disabled.
  • May have long-term patterns of homelessness and criminal justice involvement. 
  • Physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation:
    • Standing, walking, grasping, finger flexion, moving/lifting/carrying objects up to 30 lbs., bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, withstanding repetitive motion, and reaching repeatedly are required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday).
    • Hearing and talking on telephone and in person are required occasionally (under 1/3 of workday).
    • Balancing, climbing, and crawling may be required occasionally.
    • Physically able to assist clients and/or staff in the evacuation of program facilities in emergency situations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must be 21+ years of age at time of hire.
  • Live Scan fingerprinting.
  • Pre-employment health screening: current TB test results, C-19 test results and vaccine card.
  • Valid CA driver’s license or ID card, proof of safe driving record
