The Team You Will Join

You’ll be part of StrongMind’s Engineering organization, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and Principal Engineers across multiple product teams. This group is responsible for building scalable, reliable, and increasingly AI-enabled learning systems that support educators and students nationwide.

The Difference You Will Make

In this role, your work will directly impact learners, educators, and internal teams by shaping how StrongMind designs, builds, and operates AI-enabled products and systems.

You’ll help translate product vision into scalable, maintainable architectures, elevate engineering quality and developer experience, and ensure AI is thoughtfully integrated into both our products and our development workflows. Your leadership will accelerate delivery while improving long-term system health and product impact.

A Typical Day Looks Like

While no two days are exactly the same, you can expect to:

• Design and build product capabilities that leverage AI and automation to improve learning and educator experiences
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to shape ambiguous ideas into scalable technical solutions
• Lead system design across features and services, ensuring scalability, observability, and resilience
• Contribute hands-on code while modeling strong engineering and AI-assisted development practices
• Provide guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and shared technical patterns
• Identify opportunities for reusable solutions and cross-team improvements
• Improve developer workflows, tooling, and environments to reduce friction and increase velocity
• Participate in production support and incident learning to strengthen system reliability

This role balances deep technical execution, product thinking, and cross-team influence and is well-suited for someone who enjoys building impactful systems, elevating engineering craft, and integrating emerging technologies into real products.

Your Expertise Includes

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating production software systems
• Strong foundation in modern software architecture, system design, and development practices
• Ability to think holistically about products, users, and long-term system evolution
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product and Engineering leadership
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and making thoughtful technical trade-offs
• Clear written and verbal communication of complex technical concepts
• Demonstrated ability to influence engineering direction beyond a single team

Bonus points if you also have:

• Experience with AI-enabled or data-intensive systems, or applied AI development practices
• Familiarity with cloud architectures and distributed systems (AWS or similar)
• Experience improving developer experience, tooling, or platform capabilities
• EdTech or mission-driven product experience
• Experience shaping shared engineering patterns or cross-team technical standards
