Visiting Assistant Professor of Sculpture & 3D Foundations

Pratt Munson College of Art and Design invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sculpture & 3D Foundations for the 2025–2026 academic year, beginning in August 2025. This is a full-time, one-year, non-renewable appointment.
We are seeking an engaged, forward-thinking artist and educator with a strong commitment to teaching sculpture and three-dimensional design at all undergraduate levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a balance of technical proficiency and conceptual depth in their work and pedagogy. We are especially interested in candidates who can bridge traditional and contemporary approaches to sculpture, and who bring inclusive, student-centered practices to the classroom.

Responsibilities Include:
Teaching a 3/3 load, including sophomore levels of sculpture and 3D foundations in a studio-based, in-person format.
Teach assignments that emphasize both conceptual inquiry and technical skill.
Maintaining and overseeing sculpture studio facilities, including equipment, supply orders, and safety protocols.
Supervising studio technician and managing the program’s sculpture budget.
Participating in department meetings and occasional service responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Facilities & Resources:
Pratt Munson’s sculpture studio is equipped with a woodshop and metal fabrication tools.
Preferred Skills:
Experience training students on equipment and enforcing safe studio practices.
Ability to contribute to a collaborative department focused on student growth and creative exploration.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA in Sculpture or a closely related discipline.
Undergraduate teaching experience, preferably in a studio-based art and design environment.
Active professional practice with a demonstrated exhibition record.

Located in Utica, NY, Pratt Munson is the extension campus of Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), offering the first two years of the BFA curriculum in Fine Arts, Communication Design, Photography, and Art & Design Education. Students who successfully complete the foundation and sophomore-level coursework at Pratt Munson continue their degree programs at Pratt Institute’s Brooklyn campus.
