Longwood Gardens is hiring seasonal Fountain Operators to operate our Main Fountain Garden and Open Air Theatre fountains during the Festival of Fountains from May 2026 to November 2026. Responsibilities include:
- Operates safely and independently to complete the assigned tasks required to manage sound, fountain control, and lighting systems
- Monitors, documents, and supports the control systems for safe operations of the fountains
- Provides technical support in partnership with team members, ensuring equipment is properly maintained, repair needs are tracked, and operational concerns are addressed promptly
- Operates and monitors systems such as Navigator, Syncronorm, and Qsys
- Monitor daytime and evening fountain shows in the Main Fountain Garden, noting performance of fountains, lights, and audio
- Perform pre-event checks to ensure all equipment is functioning properly
- Support designers during late night and weekend show commissioning
The role is expected to begin in late April or early May 2026 and continue through November 2026.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3-5 years’ experience in control systems with basic computer and networking skills
- Strict adherence to OSHA and Longwood safety requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
- A clear and professional communication skill, and remains calm and focused under pressure
- Able to climb a staircase and work in varying weather conditions
- Able to lift and push equipment weighing at least 40 pounds
