What You’ll Do

  • Examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens accurately and efficiently, following established laboratory procedures.

  • Issue final diagnoses for negative GYN cytology cases; submit all non-GYN results for pathologist review and final report release.

  • Verify specimen acceptability and patient identification throughout all processing stages.

  • Maintain quality control (QC), proficiency testing, and CLIA/DHMH compliance documentation in a timely and organized manner.

  • Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures—prepare and stain slides for evaluation.

  • Accurately input test requests and results into Cerner while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

  • Proactively expand your technical knowledge and participate in continuing education.

  • Communicate effectively and courteously with pathologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to a collaborative lab culture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.

  • Experience: 1–3 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience.

  • Certification: Cytotechnologist (ASCP)
