General Description

Onward Resources is seeking a self-motivated, Instrument Electrical Engineer with knowledge in electrical and controls/automation engineering to lead and/or support assigned projects to ensure the development of effective designs, drawings and documentation to achieve client/owner requirements as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and project execution team.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings
  • Demonstrated work experience in the Upstream/Midstream Oil and Gas Production support
  • Management of third-party subcontractors/firms
  • Engage in shop and field testing of switchgear and motor control center equipment
  • Assist in developing electrical standards and specifications
  • Apply design knowledge in medium and low-voltage power distribution, grounding, lighting, motor control, VFD, and other miscellaneous equipment specifications
  • Interact with other engineering disciplines, construction project management, major equipment suppliers, and clients
  • Review and approve electrical design deliverables to issue for design and construction. Wiring diagrams, one-lines, electrical area classification plans, power cable and control schedules
  • Knowledge of budgets, proposals, bids and budgeting concepts
  • Coordinate details and miscellaneous design details with other disciplines and project management
  • Apply standard engineering design principles to the extent appropriate
  • Experience in electrical modeling programs (SKM, ETAP, etc.) for use to conduct power studies, short-circuit calculations, coordination studies, arc flash calculations, and troubleshooting if required.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of applicable experience in oil and gas industry
  • Specification of low and medium voltage equipment (switchgears, transformers, VFDs, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required
  • EIT/PE a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of pertinent industry codes is required
  • Proven success in developing and executing projects, including objectives, scope, schedule and deliverables.
  • Tenacious, results oriented approach to work, with high quality work standards.
  • Impeccable personal and professional ethics;
  • Some travel involved for field testing (FAT)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb up and down ladders, stairs, and platforms at various heights
  • Ability to push, pull, lift 50 lbs to a minimum of 3-4 feet and maneuver equipment or parts as needed
