<div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>First review of applications May 14, 2025</strong></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><p id="isPasted">Under direction, supervises, monitors, and coordinates personnel, daily operation and maintenance activities of the Town's Parks & Recreation Department, Lifeguard division.</p>
<ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" id="isPasted"><li>Ensures the health and safety of employees and patrons.</li><li>Duties may include seasonal maintenance work such as heavy cleaning, operating hand power tools, painting, light landscaping and operating small machinery.</li><li>Maintains records and reports on daily attendance and maintenance.</li><li>Performs routine water tests and makes necessary adjustments to pool chemicals.</li><li>Prepares pool and facility for the opening and/or closing of the day.</li><li>Maintains cleanliness of pool and facility.</li><li>Supervises the day-to-day activities including communicating, scheduling work, training, evaluating, and motivating staff.</li><li>Assists with ordering chemicals and supplies.</li><li>Assures chemicals are stored properly and in the appropriate feeders.</li><li>Identifies and removes safety hazards.</li><li>Maintains vigilance awareness training standards.</li><li>Operates and performs preventative maintenance on pool equipment with primary focus on the pump room.</li><li>Responds to emergency situations by performing First Aid, CPR and/or Lifeguard Training Rescues/Techniques.</li><li>Assists with personnel actions such as selection, promotion, discipline, and evaluations.</li></ul><p><strong>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: </strong></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.</li><li>Ability to fairly and uniformly enforce pool regulations. </li><li>Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.</li><li>Ability to respond to emergency situations including safely rescuing drowning victims and administering CPR and First Aid. </li><li>Knowledge of customer service techniques and methods. </li><li>Knowledge of management and/or supervision principles and possession of strong leadership skills. </li><li>Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures related to pool facilities. </li><li>Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures.</li></ul>
<ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" id="isPasted"><li>A High School diploma or GED.</li><li>One (1) year experience as a Lifeguard.</li><li>One (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity.</li><li>Must possess Oxygen Administration certification.</li><li>Must possess at time of application and maintain Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.</li><li>Must obtain within 90 days of hire, associated safety certifications.</li><li>Lifeguarding Instructor or other advanced aquatic certification preferred.</li></ul>
<ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" id="isPasted"><li>Occasional exposure to communicable diseases associated with first aid procedures.</li><li>Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to temperatures that exceed 110 degrees.</li><li>Frequent exposure to chemical hazards including calcium hypochlorite and muriatic acid.</li><li>Occasional exposure to mechanical and/or electrical hazards associated with pool operational equipment.</li><li>Frequent exposure to noise and vibration relating to pool operational equipment.</li><li>Seasonal exposure to wetness/humidity as well as extreme temperatures.</li><li>Must be able to lift or move over fifty (50) pounds.</li><li>Must be able to swim 300 yards, demonstrating use of freestyle and breaststroke. </li><li>Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position.</li></ul>
