Were hiring a Custody Officer II to help maintain safety and security across our facility. In this role, youll supervise individuals served, protect staff and visitors, and may be assigned to high-liability posts such as key and tool control, transportation, or armory management.
This is a critical position for someone who thrives in a
structured environment, values integrity, and can respond with professionalism
in challenging situations.
What Youll Do
- Ensure
safety and security at assigned posts, remaining alert to prevent
emergencies or elopements.
- Monitor
individuals served and intervene to manage disruptive or aggressive
behaviors.
- Operate
security and communication systems including CCTV, fire alarms, electronic
locks, radios, and perimeter-alert systems.
- Respond
to emergency calls, applying de-escalation and aggression-control
techniques to protect individuals and staff.
- Conduct
searches of individuals, living areas, and communal spaces for contraband.
- Monitor
and control access to the facility, verifying visitor identification and
conducting searches when required.
- Oversee
vehicle traffic and maintain surveillance of parking areas for compliance
and safety.
- Inspect
the facility regularly for risks, hazards, or security concerns.
- Carry
out specialized duties in high-liability posts such as armory, key and
tool control, or transportation assignments.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience
- 2 years' experience (required)
- Completion
of basic recruit training course(s) or equivalent as defined by state
certification/licensing authority (if required by state or contract).
Licenses/Certifications
- Must meet state minimum age requirements (required)
- Valid state drivers license (required)
