JOB SUMMARY

The Logistics Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient shipping operations. This position involves managing communication, coordinating shipments, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling a fast-paced work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor and respond to email correspondence promptly and professionally.
  • Process pick sheets and coordinate pickups with Package and LTL carriers.
  • Prepare shipping documentation for shipments and Will Calls, including domestic and international orders.
  • Complete and manage all required export documentation and ensure compliance with international shipping regulations.
  • Capture and download warehouse shipment photos, organizing and saving them on the server.
  • Digitize and archive all shipping paperwork to the server and securely dispose of physical documents once processed.
  • Assign carriers for customer shipments, prioritizing speed and efficiency. Other duties as required.

    Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, shipping coordination, or a related role.
  • Experience working with domestic and international shipping, including knowledge of export documentation and compliance regulations, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with shipping software and carrier platforms is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.     
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and manage accurate documentation.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address and resolve logistical challenges effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and web-based tools.
  • Professional communication skills, including a high standard of email and phone etiquette.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.

    To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and/or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and/or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and/or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, shipyards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and/or applications support.

     

    Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.   Usage may be driven by customer requirements. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses, hearing protection. Customer site working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined spaces, ambient temperature, physical requirements and hazards.
