About this position
The Urban Electric Co. is seeking a talented photographer to join its dynamic, industry leading creative team and to support the day-to-day activities of its in-house photo studio, capturing the spirit of the brand through still photography while maintaining its high visual standards by optimizing its evolving catalog of imagery. This role will primarily be responsible for editing and retouching product photography, organizing and managing all photography and video assets, and facilitating photo and video sharing across internal teams and digital platforms.
Additionally, this unique role requires an editorial, photojournalistic eye, with the ability to contribute to stylized photography projects and document the life of our shop—its people, processes and events—with an artistic lens that aligns with our brand position. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, is flexible, collaborative, has a keen sense for visual storytelling and is eager to jump in on projects as they arise, whether it's an impromptu shoot around the shop, the studio or a special client-facing event, assisting on-location at an editorial shoot or the creation of content for our digital channels. Experience shooting both stills, and product, with expertise in photo retouching, is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee photo editing, photo retouching, and color correction to maintain a polished and cohesive visual style
- Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to maintain a consistent aesthetic and visual language
- Organize, manage and archive all photography and video assets
- Facilitate internal photo and video sharing across teams and platforms
- Execute stylized photography projects as directed
- Capture compelling still content in an editorial / photojournalistic style
- Support documentation of manufacturing facility, brand activations and client events on and off-site as needed
What Will Set You Up for Success:
- 3+ years of professional experience in photography and photo retouching
- Expert knowledge of Photoshop, photo retouching, and color correction.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating an editorial, artistic and luxury aesthetic
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing digital photography libraries
- Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible schedule with willingness to be on call for projects and events as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with high-end design or luxury brands
- Understanding of storytelling through both still and motion media
- Videography experience
- Proficiency in editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Lightroom, etc.)
- Experience creating short films for web and social media
