Position Overview

The Associate will play a key role in advancing Macritchie’s strategic initiatives across alternative asset classes. This position requires deep expertise in evaluating, acquiring, developing, and optimizing alternative assets, supported by strong financial modeling capabilities and portfolio management proficiency. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with strategic insight to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities in high‑growth alternative asset sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquisitions & Development: Source and evaluate opportunities; conduct market analysis and feasibility studies; lead due diligence including environmental, title, and operational audits; prepare investment committee presentations with comprehensive financial analysis and risk assessment
  • Financial Analysis: Develop sophisticated financial models with alternative asset-specific metrics; build construction budgets and pro formas; conduct comparable analysis; prepare investor reports and variance analysis; structure debt financing and capital stack alternatives
  • Project Management: Coordinate development from site control through stabilization; manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and specialized consultants; oversee entitlements, permitting, construction progress, and quality control; negotiate contracts with legal coordination
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee debt structuring, cash flow modeling, revenue management strategies and optimize performance across diverse property types; support fundraising efforts with compelling investment theses
  • Team Leadership: Delegate tasks and manage analyst pool; train and mentor analysts on alternative asset analysis and financial modeling; report to Vice President providing leadership to analyst team
  • Operations & Controls: Implement financial controls; process capital calls and payments; track costs against budget; maintain compliance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in commercial real estate; proven track record in acquisitions, development, or asset management; exposure to alternative asset classes is a plus
  • Technical Skills: Advanced financial modeling and Excel (DCF analysis, waterfall structures, sensitivity testing); exceptional analytical and communication abilities
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, or related field required; MBA, Master’s in Real Estate, or professional certifications (CFA, CAIA) strongly preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Institutional real estate or private equity experience; development from ground-up or conversion projects; familiarity with alternative real estate asset classes; understanding of industry trends; established relationships with brokers, operators, and capital providers; track record managing multiple projects simultaneously.

    Reporting Structure & Compliance

    The Associate reports directly to Vice President and leads a team of analysts who have dual reporting to both positions. The Associate must effectively delegate, mentor, and collaborate with all Macritchie team members to advance organizational objectives.

    Salary Information

    $90000.0 - $130000.0 Annual Salary
