About this position

Description:

 The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance and accounting department through accurate recording, analyzing, and reporting of financial transactions. This role ensures timely month-end close, maintains the general ledger, and assists with financial audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements. 


 

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
     
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
     
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
     
  • Prepare bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
     
  • Support fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
     

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements.
     
  • Ensure proper coding, approvals, and adherence to company policies.
     
  • Assist with customer invoicing, collections efforts, and cash application.
     

Financial Reporting

  • Assist with producing monthly financial statements and variance analysis.
     
  • Prepare supporting schedules for management review.
     
  • Maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
     

Compliance & Documentation

  • Support tax filings (sales tax, 1099s, business licenses, etc.).
     
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
     
  • Maintain organized digital and physical accounting files.
     

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work with operations, HR, and leadership to gather financial data.
     
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling as needed.
     
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
Requirements:

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
     
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
     
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Oracle, or similar).
     

Skills

  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
     
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
     
  • Excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).
     
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
     
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
     
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
