POSITION SUMMARY:  The Vice President of Business Development is a leadership position that is responsible for growing agency programs, identifying new opportunities, and managing M&A initiatives. This position is responsible for the long-term growth of YFA through mergers and acquisitions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow existing partnerships and secure new business opportunities
  • Lead initiatives to achieve organizational goals and expand agency programs
  • Design, communicate, and implement effective growth strategies and processes
  • Contribute to organizational strategic planning and overall management
  • Create, maintain, and monitor a comprehensive business development plan with measurable goals and timelines
  • Oversee assigned programs, including operations, functions, and budgets
  • Develop sustainability strategies to ensure long-term financial viability of programs
  • Build strategic partnerships and alliances to expand the organization’s community presence and support
  • Lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and new business agreements
  • Foster a culture of high performance, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Set staff goals, assign accountability, evaluate performance, and manage professional development and compensation

Proactive Outreach & Relationship Development

  • Lead outreach to CEOs, Executive Directors, Boards, and senior leaders of potential partner organizations
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, and community-based partners
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and regional meetings
  • Conduct exploratory and confidential discussions with prospective partners

Merger & Acquisition Strategy

  • Develop and manage a multi-year M&A and affiliation strategy aligned with organizational growth goals
  • Identify and evaluate potential merger, acquisition, or affiliation targets based on mission fit, geography, services, and financial health
  • Build and maintain an M&A opportunity pipeline, including active and long-term prospects

WHAT YOU NEED / REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:  Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred, with at least five (5) years in business development/mergers and acquisitions. Nonprofit experience preferred. Preferred knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed principles and practices, including the importance of creating a safe environment, fostering trust, promoting collaboration, and empowering individuals
Physical Requirements:  Ability to travel statewide on a regular basis. Ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, stand or to sit for extended periods of time.
