About this position
Summary/Objective?
The Freight Driver is responsible for the timely delivery of heavy freight of varying size and weight between various customer locations. This position requires that the person be physically fit and have at least a basic knowledge of the freight shipping business. In this position, the person will be required to skillfully manage the operation of a 26' straight truck. The work location varies among buildings at a large, secure corporate campus and will require both driving and an extensive amount of walking to various locations both on-site and off-site to fulfil customer needs. The ideal person for this position will be physically fit and have a cursory knowledge of the freight shipping business. Punctuality and dependability are essential to successfully performing in this position.
Essential Functions
This position must work closely with customers, other drivers, dock personnel, vendor employees, and other staff related to Fleet Services contracts.
- Timely pick-up, loading, securing and unloading of scheduled and unscheduled freight aboard assigned vehicle. Must unload at customer site.
- Review and confirm manifest orders daily for your correct route

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck to ensure that it is safe and in reliable operating condition.
- Report maintenance issues to supervisors to ensure prompt repairs to equipment to maintain safe and reliable operation condition.
- Drivers are required to inspect before on-boarding all freight, note any damage and make necessary notifications and properly secure all freight for transit.
- Piece count and/or otherwise verify loads, properly handle manifests and be responsible for maintaining and prompt submission of related paperwork.

- Buildings in Dallas, Rockwall, Sherman, and Fort Worth
- Always review and acknowledge Safety Updates once received
- Must maintain individual Quality and Safe Driving Goals according to dept. lead
- The driver is required to adhere to all City and State laws, as well as Company and Customer safety requirements.

This position has no supervisor responsibilities, but you may serve as a role model, coach and mentor for other employees and positions in the company.
Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse environment and also spends significant amount of time outside walking and performing physical activities. This role routinely will be in the presence of loud noises, bright lights and be subject to temperatures sometimes equal to current weather conditions. In this role you will also use the following types of equipment, machinery and or software in the performance of your duties:
- 26 ft. Straight Truck
- Manual and Electric Pallets jacks or forklift
- Telephone, cellular telephone, hand-held scanner

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position
Schedule is as follows: Monday – Friday 6AM to 3PM
40+ hours per work week
Schedule will be consistent weekly
Occasional schedule changes may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Varied travel is expected for this position depending on route.
Required Education and Experience
- Current Class C Texas Operators License
- Must have 3 years verifiable driving history
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must pass driving skills assessment (field test with vehicle)
- Must have a current and valid DOT Medical Card OR obtain before start date
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
- Must have basic math skills and competency
- Must have basic computer use knowledge and skills
- Must have access to a valid email address
- Will submit to a criminal background check
- Will submit to a drug test
- Will submit to a Motor Vehicle Check
- Must maintain a clean driving record during entire period of employment and be insurable
