We are seeking a Welder to join our team. This position is responsible for cutting, fitting, and welding pipe fittings according to detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will ensure quality workmanship, adhere to safety standards, and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed shop orders, including drawings to determine project requirements.
- Cut and fit pipe fittings to ensure correct placement on pipes, which may involve heating and grinding.
- Perform welding operations in accordance with specified weld specifications.
- Responsible for quality workmanship, meeting customer specifications, and inspecting work to ensure adherence to standards.
- Keep the work area clear of potential safety hazards and follow all company-standard and position-specific safety requirements.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, including a torch for cutting.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor.
- Operate hand grinders as needed
- Ability to use basic fabricating tools
- Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety control and PPE
- Knowledge of a variety of hand tools and welding equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and design
- Ability to add subtract and divide into all units of measures
- Follow all safety rules and practices and adhere to safety protocols
- Clean/finish welded surfaces
- Perform welding tasks using Mig, Tig, and stick
- Other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications
- Previous MIG welding experience and cutting with a torch.
- Previous steel and carbon steel experience.
- Previous experience reading blueprints and following to completion.
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing, and other active movements.
- Working in temperature zones that may include hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
