Shuttle Driver

Department: Operations / Logistics
Reports To: Warehouse or Logistics Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Barchemy Manufacturing Facility


Position Summary

The Shuttle Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transport of materials, finished goods, and supplies between Barchemy facilities, storage locations, and designated off-site warehouses. This role supports continuous production operations by ensuring efficient internal logistics and maintaining compliance with food safety and transportation standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company box trucks, vans, or yard vehicles between Barchemy locations
     
  • Transport raw materials, packaging, and finished goods as scheduled
     
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report issues
     
  • Maintain accurate transport logs, delivery paperwork, and inventory documentation
     
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Production, and Scheduling teams on transport needs
     
  • Ensure loads are secured and handled to prevent product damage or contamination
     
  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, and food safety requirements
     
  • Assist with loading and unloading when needed
     
  • Support general warehouse or logistics tasks during non-driving periods
     
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and transport equipment
     

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
     
  • Ability to operate box truck or commercial van
     
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
     
  • Basic documentation and recordkeeping skills
     
  • Strong safety awareness
     

Preferred:

  • Prior manufacturing or warehouse experience
     
  • Experience in food manufacturing or regulated environment
     
  • Forklift certification
     
  • DOT medical card (if applicable to vehicle size)
     

Work Environment

  • Food manufacturing and warehouse setting
     
  • Indoor and outdoor driving between facilities
     
  • Exposure to varying temperatures (warehouse / production / outdoor)
     
  • Standing, lifting, and driving for extended periods
     

Schedule

Typical schedule aligned with production needs; may include:

  • 1st or 2nd shift
     
  • Weekend or extended hours as required for production support
     

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
     
  • Frequent sitting (driving) and standing
     
  • Repetitive loading/unloading motions

The Shuttle Driver must follow all:

  • Barchemy food safety policies (GMPs)
     
  • Vehicle safety requirements
     
  • Site traffic and dock procedures
     
  • DOT regulations (if applicable)
