About this position

AmericanAg®, a global provider of diversified reinsurance solutions, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to work out of our office in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of working in the office a minimum of three days a week.  

The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in recruiting and identifying talent for a growing organization, along with contributing to the overall success of the department and ensuring that HR is viewed as a trusted, go-to resource. The HR Generalist will also provide consultative and problem-solving services to managers and employees regarding HR policies and practices, performance management, and other areas of employee relations.

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for:

  • Leading recruitment efforts from intake through selection and offer
  • Evaluating recruitment tools for effectiveness and identifying new ways to attract talent
  • Managing the Internship Program 
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating job descriptions in partnership with managers and leaders 
  • Providing coaching and consultation to managers and employees to help solve employee relations issues
  • Backing up payroll, new employee onboarding/orientation, and other critical HR functions
  • Overseeing employee recognition programs, including vendor relationship, reporting, and recommending additional solutions to drive employee recognition and engagement
  • Helping to identify, develop, and implement enhancements and changes to HR procedures, policies, and programs 
  • Collaborating with HR team members on projects and initiatives that enhance the employee experience and organizational effectiveness
  • Maintaining knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to strengthen HR service delivery through participation in various seminars and training opportunities

What you will bring to this position:

  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience with a focus on recruiting and employee relations  
  • Understanding of general HR policies and procedures; payroll and onboarding/orientation experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Demonstrated ability to act proactively to develop, recommend, and assist with the implementation of new HR initiatives, procedures, and best practices 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations
  • Insurance industry experienced preferred

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $85,000-$100,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
