Position Summary

The Benicia Materials Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager and assists in all aspects but not limited to including the responsibility of daily shipments, inventory, parts stocking and the control and movement of material within his/her assigned facility. The Benicia Materials Supervisor will also provide necessary support to other RIX Industries facilities as necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure on time delivery of parts and materials for production and project assembly.
  • Monitor efficient stock levels of parts, materials and supplies for company production functions within the limits of the assigned facility. Continually monitor stock levels of production parts and supplies and take corrective action (i.e. cycle counts) to ensure accuracy of information and effective availability.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory control guidelines.
  • Provides timely and cost effective incoming/outgoing deliveries.
  • Help purchase and maintain the expenses of the material handling functions of the company ensuring compliance with established guidelines and report findings and suggestions to Supply Chain Management.
  • Ensure effective communication within the department and with all company functions.
  • Read and understand plans, drawings, specifications and bills of material for projects and production.
  • Assist in assigning material handling responsibility to staff, including specifications and deadlines.
  • Attend regularly scheduled production meetings as required.
  • Accurate and timely computer input of all materials data.
  • Conducts a rolling cycle count program for Benicia facility to ensure complete cycle count of all inventoried parts by year end, including discreet warehouses.
  • Oversee the process of bay audits, reconcile discrepancies, and investigate inventory shortages.
  • Responsible for completing physical inventories and daily/weekly cycle counts.
  • Manage all transfer activity between Sparks and Benicia warehouses.
  • Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain inventory as required by production notifying Planning/Production of any irregularities and correcting the system as soon as possible.
  • Maintain adequate records and orderly files on all transactions and activities.
  • Is the subject matter expert for all inventory related matters.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in the interview process when hiring new employees to fill open position reporting to the Materials Supervisor.
  • Assists the Director of Operations, Manufacturing Manager, and Plant Manager in company administration of company policies.
  • Perform all other duties in the best interest of the company or as directed by the Director of Manufacturing, Manufacturing Manager, and Plant Manager.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned.



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Three years supervisory experience within Material Handling Supervision and inventory control.
  • Ability to read and understand structural drawings and schematics. Understanding or letter of credit, domestic and international shipping documents. Knowledge of accepted standard Material Handling practices.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform calculations such as percentages, ratios and fractions.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of software applications. Ability to understand the use and application of air and gas compressors and generators.
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional background in Purchasing.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position is regularly exposed to the following conditions:

  • Manufacturing, warehouse and office environments
  • While working near moving equipment, mechanical parts and lift trucks; must have the ability to follow safe operating procedures.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.

Must have the following physical abilities:

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
